dudes, i've been in the market for a good work bag for forever. at first i was looking for something really minimal, along the lines of the common projects bags they had at odin. but then i decided those were all kinda super snoozevilles. all those male urban fash bags looked the same. if they weren't the standard helmet bag (which, c'mon now, dudes have been carrying around since like nigo was still relevant circa 2000)

they were more or less leather rectangles with handles:

and then there were all the bags with the leather bondage/prep-school strappy things:

which had a certain amount of appeal but i couldn't justify spending more than $100 for.

lately i've decided i really really want a dowel-rod bag, like something an old-timey perry mason might carry before he got fat and had his daughter do all the legwork (actually, that was matlock). i think it's all the old-styley men's briefcases that i see on swedish dudes on facehunter. e.g., these dudes with the leather envelope clutches (just get the vagina enlargement surgery already, marys):

totally kinda good. but it's kinda hard to know, at least for me, where to buy a good, leather bag that an old man would carry. i mean, how do i know when i'm paying for the leather and not the name b/c this is a fairly timeless design that doesn't really require any creativity. so i've been checking ebay and surprisingly (gross-surprisingly), coach kinda has a good one?

but coach is retarded and there's no way i'm going to pay a premium to subsidize some sorority girl's misplaced cache in a "luxury" brand. blech.

and then i found this dude. he has one up that's actually REALLY good and kinda perfect:

right?! it's kind of the perfect cross between minimalism + classicism. but i'm not sure i trust some dude selling bags out of his garage. the leather might be crap and who's to say he doesn't just rip off my credit card? but on the hand, it's SUPER cheap...i'm kinda torn. WHAT YOU THINK?
